So you’ve booked your Bellevue pregnancy photos with me, and now it’s time to get ready. This session is truly a gift to yourself, and I want you to feel fully prepared so you can enjoy every minute of it. Thoughtful preparation plays such an important role in creating a relaxed maternity session and timeless, authentic images. From choosing your outfits to planning for an early arrival and coming in with a relaxed mindset, these simple steps will help you feel confident, prepared, and ready for a fun and meaningful session.
For your maternity session, you have the option to bring two outfits. I tend to recommend bringing a formal and casual look so that you have some variety in your final gallery. This can be a flowy or form-fitting dress and maybe a pair of jeans with a cropped top or bra if you feel comfortable with showing more skin. Neutral colors are easy to match, and I would strongly recommend avoiding patterns and stripes. Instead, lean towards textures in your clothing to add some variety. Please note I will be capturing close up detail shots. Be sure to moisturize and avoid flashy nail colors or designs. Neutral colors or no nail polish capture best. This will help your outfits look cohesive for beautiful, timeless images. Most importantly, wear what is comfortable to you because that is what’s going to help you feel the most comfortable and confident during your session.
If you would like additional assistance your session with me includes a complimentary styling guidance call that you can book HERE.

Your session is likely scheduled around 1 to 2 hours before sunset, this is done due to lighting. At that point of the day, the sun is still up but not too harsh. It also sometimes gives us the chance to get some beautiful golden hour pictures. Because we start so close to sunset, it is crucial for the session to begin on time. During certain points of the year, your session may begin close to rush hour. This means you might need to be aware of potential traffic. When planning when to leave your home, the earlier the better. My tip is to leave 30 minutes before your GPS tells you to leave. This way, you can give yourself time to find parking and even quickly use the restroom prior to your session. Overall, arriving early will also help you begin your session with ease and ready to have a great time.

Come prepared to capture moments, not perfection. With me as your photographer, including your family does not have to be stressful. If you and your partner are not comfortable in front of the camera, there is no need to worry. I will help warm you up with some gently guided prompts that will help you feel relaxed. The same goes for kids. My sessions are guided in a way that creates space for your children to be themselves while still capturing fun moments. If you feel like a little incentive will help keep your kiddos engaged, feel free to do so! If you are including a fur baby in your session, feel free to bring a little treat for them too. My ultimate goal for your session is to have the entire family having a great time and to capture beautiful memories.

As you prepare for your Bellevue pregnancy photos, remember that this session is about more than just images. It is about honoring this season of your life and preserving it in a way that feels true to you. You do not need to worry about being perfect or knowing what to do. I will be there to guide you every step of the way so you can focus on being present with yourself and your family. With a little preparation like planning what to wear, early arrival and ways to include your family – your session will be an enjoyable experience.
If you are ready to begin planning or still need to book your Bellevue pregnancy photos, I would love to connect with you.
